What is Ford Sync Applink?


BOURBONNAIS, IL – The Consumer Electronics Show, or CES for short, is a global consumer electronics and consumer technology trade show that takes place every January in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year it was held January 7th – 10th. Ford Motor Company made a number of announcements revealing apps that will be added to the Ford Sync Applink system. But first, what exactly is Ford Sync Applink?

What is Ford Sync Applink?

Available on select vehicles, SYNC AppLink uses voice-activated technology to build a hands-free bridge between you and your Smartphone applications.  SYNC AppLink-compatible mobile applications are available for Android™, BlackBerry®, and iPhone® smartphone platforms, and new applications are being added regularly. Applications can be purchased and downloaded through Google Play, iTunes® App Store, and Blackberry® App World™.43 Not all smartphones support SYNC AppLink, and not all applications are available for all phone platforms. See the section related to your phone platform for availability and important settings to make your phone compatible with SYNC AppLink. If your vehicle is not yet equipped with SYNC AppLink, it may be available to you as a software update.

What new apps were introduced at CES2014?

Available soon, Domino’s customers who have a registered Pizza Profile on their Domino’s mobile app, as well as the Ford SYNC® AppLink™ in-car connectivity system, will be able to use that combination to place their saved Easy Order™ in just a few simple, voice-activated steps.

Parkmobile, a leading provider of services that enable users to pay for parking from their smartphones, has announced its app will soon be compatible with the Ford SYNC® in-car connectivity system. Using the SYNC AppLink™ interface, drivers will be able to pay for a parking space with an on-file credit or debit card, eliminating the need to touch their mobile phone while driving.

Parkopedia®, the leading parking information provider with more than 28 million parking spots listed, announces an app compatible with the Ford SYNC® AppLink™ in-car connectivity system. Using the AppLink interface, drivers will be able to locate available nearby parking spots and get pricing information through simple voice commands, eliminating the need to touch their mobile phone while driving. Parkopedia offers detailed information on more than 28 million parking spaces in 40 countries.

Leading security provider ADT® today announces its Pulse app will be compatible with the Ford SYNC® in-car connectivity system. Using the SYNC AppLink™ interface, drivers will be able to arm and disarm their security system, make sure doors and windows are closed, and take other steps to ensure the security of their property using simple voice commands.

What apps are already available to use?

There are quite a few apps already available for the Ford Sync Applink system such as Pandora, Amazon Cloud, MLB.com, and USA Today.
